Arrive into Santiago’s International Airport, where you will take an internal flight down to Balmaceda. There,
your tour through the Aysen region begins, crossing patagonian pampas for 45 minutes to reach the city of Coyhaique. After lunch, we continue along the scenic Austral Road to the Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa (5 hrs approx). Much of the trip is along a gravel road that passes through extraordinary landscapes of dense forests between mountains and cliffs. In the afternoon we arrive at the Lodge pier and then cross the Puyuhuapi Channel by motorboat in just 10 minutes. Welcome! |

Surrounded by lush vegetation, and accessible only by sea, this unique Lodge is where understated luxury and a well planned simplicity combine to create a unique atmosphere. Numerous excursions guide you through the temperate forest to Queulat National Park and its Hanging Glacier, or explore the Dorita Bay in boats and kayaks. Today is another day to trek in the rain forest, take a day trip across the fjord, kayak with the dolphins or simply soak in the wonderful hot natural spring water in either the outdoor or indoor pools. |

At 7:00 am we board the Patagonia Express catamaran and begin our journey through the austral fjords. The 7-hour route is a sheer delight to the senses: the transparency of the waters, the majesty of the Andes Mountains wrapped in lush forests, the play of light interwoven through the clouds, and sometimes, encounters with playful dolphins. We will sail through a number of channels, leading us to the San Rafael Lagoon, home to a millenarian glacier. After a visit of 2 hours, we begin our return trip, arriving in Puerto Chacabuco around 10:30 p.m., where we will be transferred to the hotel in Puerto Chacabuco or Coyhaique. |

After breakfast, we travel by bus along the route that follows the Simpson River, from Chacabuco or Coyhaique, and then continue on to the airport in Balmaceda for your flight to Puerto Montt, in Chle's Lakes District. There, you will have a transfer through Puerto Varas and drive along the eastern shore of Chile's second largest lake: Llanquihue (pronounced <yawn KEY way>), then eastward into the Cochamo Valley and to the Riverside Lodge for the next 3 nights.
